Victoria is located on the west coast of Canada, in the province on British Columbia. It is on the southern end of Vancouver Island, and can be reached only by boat or airplane. There is a wide variety of attractions and activities in Victoria and the surrounding area. Though probably most well-known for its lush gardens and its heritage character, the city also hosts ongoing events related to nautical interests, First Nations issues, contemporary art, and sports. As the capital of the Province, Victoria is the home of the Provincial Legislature, as well as the Royal British Columbia Museum and the British Columbia Maritime Museum.
